Mission Statement |
To develop a world-class research and educational program in phosphor technology and to support the high definition display industry with state-of-the-art enabling technologies The Center was established by ARPA in August 1993 in recognition of the critical importance of phosphors as a key enabling technology to realize the next generation of high definition emissive displays. Thus, it is an integral part of the infrastructure to create and support a viable manufacturing capability in the United States for flat panel displays. The primary focus is on emissive phosphors for electroluminescent, field emission, plasma and new CRT flat panel displays; however, phosphors for LCD technologies are also being investigated. |
